Top Five Videos of 2013

I take a lot of pride in the videos I put together. It's something I absolutely love to do. From the filming, to the editing, to the music choices. I know they're just fun, quirky little videos, but I'm pretty proud of the story they're able to tell and the emotions that they hopefully convey. But at the end of the day, I just want people to smile while they're watching. Or vomit. Smile or vomit.

#5 DANNY & KEVIN: AUSTIFIED (DAY 3 - PT. 1)
I'm pretty proud of my entire series of videos from SXSW in Austin this March. But I spent the most amount of time working on this one as there was a lot of live music to edit. And I had fun working with time lapsed shots. Also I drunkenly ramble in it and that's always fun for everyone!

#4 KEVIN'S NATURE CORNER: KEVIN VS. THE YELLOW JACKET
Kevin's Nature Corner is a series of videos I've made over the past couple years in which I document random nature sitings. And this one was one of the most suspenseful. I had nearly 20 minutes of footage of me trying to catch this freakin' yellow jacket. And somehow edited it down to a crisp 3:53. Watch to find out who wins the battle.

#3 ROB'S 30TH BIRTHDAY PARTY
This video is from my brother Robert's 30th birthday party in November. I'm pretty proud of it, but I think I might be more proud of the various things we put together for the party being documented. I'm such a good brother. Check it.

#2 MY DAD'S 60TH BDAY OBSTACLE COURSE
My Dad turned 60 on March 3rd and we threw him a party. As you'll see me explain in the video, he used to make us (his kids) obstacle courses for our birthday parties, so we decided to return the favor for his 60th. Check out how he handles it.

#1 ERICA AND GREG'S WEDDING
My sister Erica got married to this dude named Greg in October. And our family couldn't have been happier. My goal in putting this video together was to make it enjoyable regardless of whether you know the people in the video. AND to make it something special for Erica, Greg and the family/friends who attended. A tricky line to walk down but I feel like I got pretty close to reaching that goal. Or maybe I didn't at all. Either way, the party was a BLAST and I think that comes through in the video. Plus it contains brief nudity and that's ALWAYS a plus. Please enjoy my BEST video from this year:

Danny & Kevin: Austified (Day 4)

Well, as most things that are insanely fun tend to do, our time in Austin came to an end. Day Four captures our last breakfast in Austin and our return back home to LA. It was very hard to leave. Get your tissues ready... like, in case you're sick. It's good for blowing boogers into.

So there it is! I truly appreciate you taking the time to (hopefully) enjoy our journey. And as an added bonus, I threw together some "Deleted Scenes". Oddly enough, a lot of these actually WERE deleted. They were in original drafts but, to cut back on time, I gave 'em the axe. I got sick of me while I was editing this. I hope you're sick of me by the end of it too.

And with that, it really is DONE. I'd like to give a very BIG, very special thank you to Danny's cousin Gina for hosting us throughout the weekend. Not only did she offer up her house to us as shelter, but she showed us around the town and knew all the best places to go.  Not even in a cliche way, this trip DEFINITELY would not have been what it was without her. We would've been lost, wandering little boys. This woman knows how to do Austin. And probably just about everything else too. Gina, thank you dearly.

And thank you again to each of you for watching. See ya for the next adventure, yo.

Danny & Kevin: Austified (Day 3)

Day 3 was, without a doubt, our most active day and, in turn, our most fun day. Danny and I were unleashed into the streets of Austin without our hostess, Gina. And my how we tore it up. The day started at a free party that was serving up straight whiskey (Jameson, to be precise) on the house. I hadn't eaten breakfast that morning, so two Jameson's in and I was feeling good and sloppy. Check out our adventures from that point on.

After heading back to Gina's place for a quick refresher period (where I snoozed for about 20 minutes and pounded down a few Blue Moons in order to maintain my goal of staying drunk the entire day), the three of us headed out for the night. We knew the Smashing Pumpkins were playing a small venue and Gina had some connections that could possibly get us in. But we had no clue whether those would come through. So we were just looking for a night of whatever adventure and trouble we could get into. Find out where we ended up in this here video. Also, SPOILER ALERT: I did stay drunk the entire day. And it was fantastic.

Danny & Kevin: Austified (Day 2)

Day two in Austin started with what we were told was a half mile walk to the flagship Whole Foods for breakfast. Our stroll was immensely pleasant as we walked along Lady Bird Lake where people were out, birds were chirping, party boats were cruising by. But after a while of walking, we began to realize that the definition of "a half mile" was much different in our host Gina's head than it was in ours. Two and a half miles later, we finally arrived at the Whole Foods. It ended up being perfect though because we were able to see what downtown looked like during the day. We may have been exhausted when we finally got back home, but the walk was worth it. And we were able to catch a little nap before we got ready for the night. That was about all we needed to get into party mode.

Check out our day time walk and party-ful night here:

Danny & Kevin: Austified (Day 1)

Since we arrived in Austin around 7pm, you'd think our first day would be short and uneventful. Well your thinking skills are awful if you thought that. Instead, we crammed AS MUCH as we possibly could into the night. And we extended it for as long as we possibly could. I don't think my head hit the pillow until 6am.

Check out our arrival in the beautiful city and our fun around town during night one.

Danny & Kevin: Austified (Trailer)

Brace yourselves. Danny and Kevin got Austified.

My best friend Danny and I spent 4 days in Austin, Texas for the South by Southwest (SXSW) music festival. Which turned out to be not just a festival of music, but a festival or drinking, wandering, socializing, dancing, food trucking, flirting, flip booking and drinking. I'd suggest that SXSW put all those in their tagline, but they might not think it's catchy enough.

I'm not much for spoiling things, so I won't go into detail about the weekend here. Instead I'll let my day by day video recaps take care of that. And to whet your appetite for said videos, please check out this short trailer of our adventure. You will regret it! ... wait... won't. Sorry. You WON'T regret it!

Winter Camp 2013

So for some reason, my sister Erica and I have been entrusted with the job of directing the annual winter camp at Camp La Verne; the camp we both grew up going to and are currently board members of. We have a blast trying to provide the same experiences/positive memories that we were able to enjoy for the current youth of this fine camp community. I'm not sure whether we're successful, but we're having fun trying.

Usually I put together one or two long videos from camp, but this year I tried something different. Just a bunch of short videos. All of these videos are under a minute (some even under HALF a minute!) so feel free to watch a few. They're just silly moments from our sledding day that show the personality of this place we call Camp La Verne.

NOTE: No campers were ACTUALLY hurt in this video. We are very attentive to injuries at camp and pride ourselves on our safety precautions and lack of injuries. Just ignore the reports of the camper with the sprained ankle.

My brother Robert and good friend Scott served as counselors for the weekend. They spent a good amount of time building a snowman for sledding purposes. Check out his successful launch down the hill:
