PRINCE:
Or the artist formerly known as Prince. Which ever you prefer. I prefer Prince. Though when it comes to his music, there's very little I prefer. I can't think of a single Prince song I've ever heard that I can remember enjoying. I wouldn't say I HATE any Prince songs. They just don't do it for me. But to be honest, there's very few Prince songs I can even name outside of "When Dove's Cry" and "Darling Nikki". And I only know "Darling Nikki" because the Foo Fighter's covered it and it's undoubtedly my least favorite Foo's song of all time. But I think it's his all around ambiguity that sort of turns me off. Is he gay? Is he straight? Is he even a man? Even his music doesn't quite fit into any specific genre. And I'm all for ambiguity and not being pegged into one category. But I find that not being able to peg Prince frustrates me. And when I say "peg", I do mean have sex with. I don't have much of an arguement here other than I just don't get the appeal. It's just my taste. But all that said, I'm still willing to offer

I used to be with you on that until I dug an old college dormmate's CD book out of the dorm trash and found a Best Of Prince CD. Gotta say, I kinda dig Little Red Corvette.
ReplyDeleteWhat I can't stand though: his movie Purple Rain! The aforementioned dormmate made us watch that when it was her turn to choose the movie, and it was the most unbearable time of my life!
